Mission
Committee News At its March 21
meeting, the Missions Committee decided that we would enter into a Covenant
Relationship with Mrs. Maria Humbane, a United Methodist missionary working in
Zimbabwe. A Covenant Relationship means that we will contribute $5 per
year per member ($1420), will include the Humbane's in our thoughts and prayers,
will receive regular updates on Maria's work, and will host them for a personal
visit when they are on their periodic assignments.
At the present time, Maria, a native of Mozambique,
directs a program called "Ishe Anesu" which means "God With Us." The
program provides school uniforms for children as well as after-school tutoring
and meals. She also works with homeless children and unwed mothers.
